Albany, Ga. — Fueled by a spirited Greek Night atmosphere inside the Jones Brothers HPER Complex, the Albany State Golden Rams delivered an impressive second-half comeback to defeat Allen University, 85–78. Trailing 41–33 at halftime, Albany State responded with poise and intensity, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 52–37 over the final 20 minutes to secure the win.
The Golden Rams found their rhythm after the break, shooting a blistering 55.2 percent from the field in the second half while relentlessly attacking the paint. Albany State controlled the interior throughout the night, finishing with 44 points in the paint and converting key opportunities at the free-throw line, where they knocked down 20-of-26 attempts. The contest featured playoff-like energy with nine ties and 15 lead changes, but Albany State’s composure and execution proved decisive down the stretch.
Cameron Evans led the charge with a game-high 21 points, adding seven rebounds and three assists in a strong all-around effort. Jeremiah Edwards provided a steady presence with 15 points, including a near-perfect 7-of-8 performance from the line, while Kendale Johnson matched that total with 15 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting. Shakur Poteatcontributed 14 points, seven assists, and three steals, orchestrating the offense and sparking defensive stops at critical moments.
Albany State’s depth also made an impact, with the bench contributing 16 points and providing valuable energy. The Golden Rams capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 17 points on extended possessions, and turned defensive pressure into 19 points off turnovers.
